Hourglass Magic of Veil

Hourglass have released a stunning new Veil Translucent Setting Powder along with a Veil Retouching Fluid to accompany their bestselling Veil Mineral  Primer and bring  the  Veil  experience  full  circle. It just so happened that at the time of this new release I was on the hunt for a new setting powder... I initially had my eyes on the much raved about Laura Mercier powder, but the beautiful Hourglass packaging got the better of me in the end. Whilst I found myself on an impulse trip into Space NK, I somehow walked out not only with the Translucent Setting Powder that I needed but also with the new Retouching Fluid and I'm here to share my thoughts on this new duo.

I have always had a bit of a fangirl experience with Hourglass, since they are just a brand that can do no wrong in terms of beautiful packaging and high quality products. Despite this fact, I don't own a whole lot from them as they are on the pricey side. When it comes to getting older and finding the right complexion products I've realised that spending that bit more on high-end items is worth it in the end... or at least that's the excuse I'm using for this splurge.

I've never tried the cult favourite Veil Mineral Primer, until I picked up this new duo and managed to get myself a few samples. I'm not even a huge fan of primers but after a few sample uses, I am adding  this primer to the top of my splurge list because it's fab and overall the Veil trio really does work wonders for my skin. But back to the two products I wanted to review today. Firstly the Veil Retouching Fluid £25 in shade Vanilla, described as an innovative serum-like formula to instantly illuminate, refresh and retouch the complexion. The frosted bottle and doe-foot applicator is not only beautiful, but also super effective for an easy application. Hourglass suggest that you can apply this anywhere on the face for instant illumination, light hydration and sheer coverage... However I prefer to use it for my under eye area as I find that it really helps to brighten up my dark circles and add a softening effect. I wouldn't necessarily call this your typical concealer, as it only provides sheer coverage, but this is more than enough to brighten and revive my complexion overall. I'm really enjoying the creamy and hydrating formula, it blends into the skin effortlessly and doesn't feel heavy.

Next up the star of the show, the Veil Translucent Setting Powder £36, described as an ultra-refined  and weightless loose  powder  designed  to  instantly  blur  imperfections and give  skin a  flawless  finish.  Having dry skin, I am always a little bit hesitant of using a setting powder, especially loose powders like these. At the same time I've noticed that when using tinted moisturisers or concealers for a light coverage, I do need to set it all down for longevity. This Houglass powder is perfect for helping to set my base in place, without leaving my skin feeling matte and dry... since it's  formulated  with  soft-focus and light-reflecting  particles for effortlessly smooth skin.  It contains skin nourishing ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, plant water and grapefruit extract. It really adds a stunning luminosity to the skin thanks to the infused diamond powder. I really like the fact that overall it's formulated without parabens, fragrance and talc, basically no nasties and cruelty  free. Now the packaging, which won me over instantly, has a luxurious gold H sifter and custom cap that allows for a small amount of powder to be dispensed at a time. I have read a couple of disappointing reviews from gals with an oily complexion, so based on that I can only recommend this to anyone with dry to normal skin types. But at the end of the day, if you are intrigued and not sure depending on your skin type... it's always worth checking it out in store.

So as you can see I have fallen in love with this new Hourglass Veil duo and the flawless complexion I can achieve, it's like my skin but better and it doesn't even feel like I am wearing any makeup at all. Have you tried these new base products and if so what are your thoughts?
