Introducing Butter London

Introducing Butter London

I have to admit once I find a nail polish brand that I like, I don't step away too much from it and definitely stay in the safe zone of what I know. However I was recently introduced to butter London and finally had the opportunity to expand on my nail polish experience. I was always aware that the brand existed, I remember browsing through their gorgeous products many times back in the day in Avoca (in Dublin, way before my move to London began). However I never really knew much about the brand itself, so for anyone else that is on the same boat as I am.. let me tell you a bit more background information. The brand was founded in 2005 by beauty-obsessed British entrepreneur, Sasha Muir, and since then it's been at the forefront of fashion. It's certainly recognised worldwide for its catwalk colours and innovative formulations. There's always been a luxury approach since the brand has worked alongside the world's top fashion designers to bring runway trends to life. My favourite part about the brand is that they have always focused on using a better-for-you ingredient philosophy, meaning there's no Formaldehyde, Toluene, DBP, phthalates or parabens in any of their products. Recently the brand have introduced new products to their range and even had a makeover on some of their nail treatment products. So let me tell you all about these products and my experience with them.

The nail treatments are created with the same '8-free' formula as their nail polishes, so you won't find any nasties here. I'm not sure how they looked before the re-packaging but I love their new look, super sleek and luxe. First up one of my favourite products from the range is the Quickfix Moisturising Cuticle Balm* since my hands/cuticles are constantly dry. This nourishing treatments lives in my handbag and I bring it around with me wherever I go, to save my cuticles from dying out and splitting (which is gross and painful at the same time). I really like the massage tip applicator since I can apply this at my desk, whilst typing away and there's no mess involved. The formula itself is super moisturising since it contains hydrating ingredients like coconut and avocado oils, along with vitamin E & phospholipids. It has a light and fresh scent, so it's an absolute pleasure to use. From the treatments range I was also sent their Quick Dry Conditioning Drops* which really work amazingly well at speeding up your nail polish drying time. Sometimes your nails will feel dry on the surface, but then you'll accidentally knock your hands off something and see a huge dent in your freshly polished manicure. These drops will help you avoid situations like that since it dries your nails beneath the surface and at a much faster rate too. I really like that the formula contains Rose Hip Seed Oil because it also nourishes my cuticles at the same time.

Next up I've got a couple of shades from their newest Patent Shine 10X Nail Lacquers* range, which is the first 10-in-1 nail lacquer made with Patented Shock Resisting Polymer Technology. So these nail polish offer you long lasting results that are high-shine, chip-free and richly-pigmented. The brand claim that you can achieve up to 10 days of wear time and I didn't quite reach the full time provided, but did make it a whole week with minimal chipping... so that's quite impressive for me. The formula is created with amazing ingredients such as bamboo extract to protect, silk amino acids to smooth the surface of nails, horse tail extract and calcium to strengthen, and diamond powder to instantly brighten the nails. Like all products from the brand the formula is 8-free. I really like the sleek packaging along with the curved, dense brush that is super easy to use and gives you even coverage effortlessly. I opted for shades that are quite neutral and girly, so the shades I have here are:
Mum’s The Word - a rosy nude crème shade
Loverly - an opaque, bubble gum pink crème shade
Yummy Mummy - a cool beige shimmering shade

Next up I have the Nail Foundation Priming Basecoat* which is fortified with horsetail extract and silk, to strengthen weak nails and promote healthy nail growth. I am all about this basecoat since I've always had weak nails that break easily and split in the middle, so I was quite excited to start using this. I use basecoats on a regular basis to prevent nail staining and try to improve longevity of my nail polish, so it didn't change anything to my regular manicure habits. I have to say that when using this along with other butter London nail polishes, I have found my nails to be stronger since they actually grow out without breaking as easily. When I'm too busy/lazy I will even wear this basecoat on its own, as I love the nude satin finish and like that it makes my nails feel stronger overall.

Last but not least I have a completely new polish trend (to me anyway, as I've never tried anything like it) and it's the Sheer Wisdom Nail Tinted Moisturizer* in shade Light. As soon as I read about this I was completely intrigued.. I mean a tinted moisturiser for your nails, what's next?! This is similar to the above strengthening basecoat except that it's been created to be worn on it's own to provide a sheer tint of colour for naturally healthy looking nails. There's six shades available in the range to compliment a variety of skin tones and I chose the second lightest shade available. The formula has been created with a new revolutionary Micro Smart Active Technology, which is supposed to deliver controlled, time-released ingredients.. that lock in moisture and help repair nails immediately and over time. These polishes contain vitamin E, tea tree oil, keratin and arginine, so packed full of amazing ingredients. So I may have judged this product when I first heard about it but now I'm hooked. I love that it dries super quickly and the fact that you only need one shade, perfect for a busy mum like me. The shade I have here Light is a perfect match for my complexion and it really helps to give my nails that healthy glow.

So that's my experience with butter London so far and I have to say I've been impressed. Have you tried anything from the brand before? If so what's your favourite product?
