All Matte Everything

All Matte Everything ft Zoeva, Charlotte Tilbury & The Body Shop

It's been a while since I've created a makeup look for the blog... to be honest even my day to day makeup is kept to a bare minimum of concealer and maybe some mascara if I have the time. However after treating myself to a couple of new makeup bits, I thought I would put together this all matte look. The only thing that shimmers in this look is a favourite highlighter of mine, theBalm Mary Lou Manizer, because I just can't forgo this step (all about that glow). With newbies from some fantastic brands such as The Body Shop, Zoeva & Charlotte Tilbury, there's a lot to get through so I better get started.

If you've been reading my blog for a while you would have seen me harping on about The Body Shop, be it their skincare, body care or recently even their makeup range. I was quite excited to see that the brand how now released a gorgeous new set of 100% vegan brushes*, that not only look amazing but are cruelty free too. These new brushes are made using specialist synthetic hairs and sustainably sourced wooden handles (what's not to love).  I was sent 4 different brushes from the range to try out, but from what I can see online there's 10 brushes in total, so there's a good bit of choice for both the eyes and face. I really like the dark charcoal-coated finish on the bristles, it just adds a super luxe feel to the brushes and not to mention that they feel so soft to use. The Fan Brush is fantastic for highlighting, it let's you add a subtle glow to the skin and of course you can build it up it you wish to do so. I've also got the Point Highlighter Brush here, which I am actually using for powdering since the pointed tip is perfect for the under eye area. I can see this being a great multi-tasking brush, as I would imagine it will work well with contouring also and of course highlighting as the name suggests. Moving onto the eye brushes I have the Eyeshadow Crease Brush, which is great for adding definition in the crease and also creating a smokey effect for the lower lashes. Lastly I have the Double-Ended Eye Shadow Brush and this is probably my least favourite as I never know how to properly store double ended brushes without damaging one end (anyone else have this problem or is it just me?!). The slanted side is great for creating a sharp, smoked out eyeliner and the blending side is fantastic for blending out harsh edges to bring the whole smokey look together. Prices for the range are between £8 and £14 so it's definitely on the affordable side of things and worth checking out if you're looking for great quality vegan brushes.

Next up I am very excited about these next makeup newbies because they're from Charlotte Tilbury and I am in love. I don't splurge on CT makeup often because let's face it her stuff is pricey and a lot of the time you can get cheaper dupes on the beauty market at a much more affordable price. I was also left a and disappointed by her Magic Cream a couple of months ago (you can catch up with my review here), so I think I will be staying away from the skincare for now anyway. However when it comes to beautiful packaging, no-one does it better than the beauty goddess herself... it's honestly t he kind of packaging blogger's dreams are made of. I know at the end of the day it's the product inside the counts, but it never hurts to have all that pretty packaging on the outside also (there's just something about using luxe makeup am I right?!). This time around however both products are amazing and I've been hooked since the first use.

First up let's talk about one of her newest releases and probably the most talked about lipstick in the bloggersphere at the moment; it's the exclusive Matte Revolution Lipstick in Pillow Talk of course. How stunning is this everyday nude shade? Perfect for such a different variety of skin tones and my favourite 'my lips but better' kind of shade. Now I haven't tried the cult classic lip liner in the same shade, which everyone raves about since I just never seem to remember to actually apply lip liner most of the time. But when I saw this new lipstick release, I knew I would have to get my hands on it. As with all matte revolution lipsticks, I really like the angled square tip since you can easily apply straight from the bullet for precision application. Even though the formula is matte, it feels super comfortable and almost hydrating. Due to the 3D glowing pigments within, it creates the illusion of fuller lips, which I love. There really isn't anything I dislike about this lipstick and I recommend you all to try swatch it in real life.

Next product from Charlotte Tilbury is not new at all but it's one that I have been eyeing up for the longest time ever. I'm really excited to finally have my hands on the Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder, shade Medium and wonder why the heck did I not splurge on this sooner. This was truly love at first use and I can see why all the reviews I've read so far rave about this powder. Since I suffer with dry/dehydrated skin I have found it tough to find a powder that sits well on my skin without pointing out dry patches or looking cakey. This CT powder however is on another level, it's exactly what I have been looking for. This micro fine powder feels super lightweight and breathable, I don't even feel like I've applied anything to set my foundation. It's silky soft to the touch and no joke but it literally blurs away my pores for an effortlessly flawless look. It doesn't sit in my smile lines, it's long lasting and it provides my skin with a luminous glow. I also love that it's in pressed form because I just can't use powders that are loose, they're way to messy for me and require extra effort that I cannot be bothered to give since I'm so lazy. It's quickly become my holygrail and I don't see how I can ever turn my back on it. I know these are just first impressions and you're probably thinking what is she on, so I might plan a more in depth review further down the line on my CT collection overall but so far I am more than impressed.

Lastly I've got another new release from Zoeva, which I have used to create this rusty orange/red smokey eye. It's of course their new Matte Palette that is exclusive on their website at the moment and I'm not sure if it will be available on any other sites such as BeautyBay or CultBeauty. If you're not already aware with my Zoeva obsession than let me just tell you that I am completely in love with the brand, in my eyes they can do no wrong at the moment. Their brushes have always been some of my favourites and they are constantly coming out with new releases. The brand's eyeshadow palettes have never let me down since quality is amazing and the prices are really budget friendly. I've only had the Matte Eyeshadow Palette for a short while so this is more of a first impressions post but it's already a favourite. The palette offers 10 super pigmented matte eyeshadows that aren't chalky and blend easily. There's a couple of cool tones shades but I love that it's mostly filled with warm tones such as the rich brown, deep burgundy and muted red. The outer packaging is sturdy cardboard, designed with images of city life. As with all Zoeva eyeshadows, these new shades are 100% free of parabens, mineral oils, perfume and phthalates; great for sensitive skin. For the look I have created here I used a mixture of the warm brown shades in the crease, leading up to the rusty orange/red shades blended all over the lid.

For the rest of my face I used all time favourites such as the NARS Tinted Moisturiser and MAC Pro Longwear Concealer, I seriously can't get enough of this duo at the moment. They suit my current dehydrated skin perfectly. I then continued on with Benefit Hoola Bronzer for definition & Coralista Blush for a touch of colour. For my brows I also stuck with some more Benefit favourites... Goof Proof Pencil to fill in any gaps and Gimme Brow to volumise and set everything in place. Lastly I'm trying out a new mascara, the YSL Shocking Volume Mascara in Deep Black (which I won in a giveaway from the lovely Sabiha over at Frankly Flawless) and so far I'm really liking the formula. It's dramatic and adds tons of volume to lashes with just a coat or two, not to mention that it really gives off an intense black finish. The only thing I would say is to remember that less is more with this mascara, since it can start to look clumpy very quickly. I also like the thin wand as it makes application that much easier. With that this simple, all matte makeup look is finished... what do you  all think? Do you like these rusty/orange eyeshadow tones for an everyday look like this? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below and let me know if you've got your hands on any of these new makeup releases.
