As a beauty blogger I LOVE trying out all the products and being able to experiment with different brands on a regular basis. That doesn't mean my skin feels the same way because having too many products all at once can actually cause irritations/sensitivity. So even though I had to cut back on what I used and miss out on tons of new releases, I am definitely happy with the outcome of my #KeepItSimple skincare routine. My skin is looking and feeling amazing, plus I've realised that less is definitely more when it comes to skincare (it doesn't mean I won't introduce extra products from time to time, I am a blogger after all). However it does mean that I am so much more aware of what I use on my skin and if it's a necessary step to add to my skincare routine. Not to mention that I am all about trying to keep my routine as simple as possible, meaning that I will definitely repurchase this Avène Tolérance EXTRÊME range since it contains such few ingredients (7 ingredients or less) and it has worked for my skin overall.
So just to recap a little bit for anyone that missed my initial post, the newly re-formulated and re-packaged range from Avène focuses on containing only the ingredients that are absolutely necessary for our skin needs and cutting out any nasties or preservatives, which can do more harm than good. With the innovative D.E.F.I sterile packaging, the brand were able to do just that since there was no fear of contamination happening to any of the few ingredients. One of the main ingredient in every product is of course the famous Avène thermal water, which definitely seems to have some sort of healing properties because it makes such a difference to my skin overall. So whether your skin is super sensitive or you are just looking to go back to basics, the Avène Tolérance EXTRÊME range is not only perfect for your needs but it's super effective too.
At the moment my daily skincare routine consists of cleansing my skin with the Avène Tolérance EXTRÊME Cleansing Lotion (I have the new version which contains 7 ingredients and will be available in January 2017, but at the moment you can get your hands on the current version that has 8 ingredients). I use this both morning and evening, the only difference in the evening is that I will use my regular micellar water before hand if I have applied makeup that day. I just find a double cleanse more effective in removing every last trace of makeup especially when it comes to eye makeup and mascara. I have been enjoying the creamy texture, which doesn't strip away moisture and actually leaves my skin feeling nourished. A little bit goes a long way with this cleanser and there's plenty of product left for me to continue on using.
I also wanted to mention that I have stuck with my regular weekly exfoliator in this routine, because I find it essential to exfoliate my skin on a regular basis. With a creamy cleanser like this, there's not much exfoliation happening and I wouldn't have been happy skipping that step completely, hence why I stuck with it despite my Avène trial.
Once my skin is feeling clean and re-freshed, I then apply one of the two moisturisers from the range... the Avène Tolérance EXTRÊME Emulsion in the morning since it has a light texture that absorbs into my skin instantly without feeling greasy. Despite the light texture, this emulsion still gives my skin a much needed boost of hydration that lasts all day. For the evening I use the Avène Tolérance EXTRÊME Cream, which has a rich texture and feels more nourishing overall due to the Shea Butter and Vitamin E ingredients within. This is the perfect skincare treat before going to bed, as I've noticed just how hydrated, plumped and soft my skin feels the next day. These two particular products have been my favourite from the trial and I am currently squeezing every last drop from the sterile packaging before I will make a repurchase very soon.
Last part of my skincare routine focuses on the Avène Tolérance EXTRÊME Mask, which I am currently using 2/3 times a week depending on how my skin is feeling and the time I have available for a bit of pampering. I like to leave on the mask for a good 15 mins (sometimes half an hour) to make sure my skin absorbs as much hydration as possible. The great thing about the mask is that it also works as a quick 5 minute treat when you need a boost of hydration, but don't have the extra time. Here in London we've been experiencing some pretty amazing weather for the past month, which is great for our state of mind in general but not so great for the skin. This mask has been the perfect treatment to soothe my skin after a day in the sun, whilst leaving it feeling super soft and enriched. Again a little bit goes a long way so there's still plenty of product for me to continue using through the colder months ahead (no doubt my skin will be extremely happy about).
So with my trial coming to an end, I am free to test out new products and brands again, but in a way I kind of don't want to ruin all the fantastic work this simple routine has done for my skin. I am slowly but surely introducing new products and trying out new formulas, but I will definitely think twice about whether I need a certain product in my routine. This trial has made me realise that bringing it back to basics is what my skin craved and needed, so it has made me more aware of the products that I am using. Have you tried Avène as a brand before? What are your thoughts on this super simple Tolérance EXTRÊME range?
