Not too long ago I was lucky enough to attend two fantastic beauty events in London all in the same day. After being away for so long and pretty much feeling like I was out of the loop, it was great to finally be able to attend events again. Don't get me wrong I absolutely loved having family time back in Dublin, but having to turn down tons of fabulous events did break my heart just a little bit. So when MooGoo Skincare along with Dusty Girls Makeup invited me along to their lunch in Detox Kitchen I was super excited to attend. I've introduced you to both brands before here on the blog (MooGoo Skincare here & Dusty Girls here if you're interested), with both reviews getting thumbs up from me. Both brands focus on being natural, their motto is "if it's not good enough to eat, we certainly don't want to put it on our faces". Which is why they produce products using natural ingredients that you can find in your kitchen cupboards for example. With a few extra preservatives (not the nasty kind) you've got yourself a range of skincare & makeup products that really stand out.
At the event I loved being able to test out numerous products layed out for us and try out the different textures, scents etc. It was great being able to chat to the team about how much they have developed since the early days but with their concept of staying natural still the main focus. It was also interesting to get to know some of the most popular ingredients used in their products which focuses on natural oils, vitamin E and milk proteins. The best part it was amazing to hear that they are becoming increasingly popular, especially in my home country Ireland (that was quite heart warming to learn).
I also had the opportunity to taste some delicious yet healthy foods & juices on display for us, which were produced by Detox Kitchen. Definitely a place to visit for a healthy, nutritious & tasty lunch.
When I was leaving the team kindly gifted me with a huge selection of both skincare & makeup products from the range. As you know I'm still on my exclusive skincare trial with Avène (which is coming to an end), so I'm yet to start with the skincare products. However I have been busy trying the Dusty Girls Makeup products and I am seriously impressed.
I decided to create a simple & bronzed makeup look to show you how everything looks on the skin, but it's safe to say it's become my go to makeup look at the moment.
For my base I used the Dusty Girls Earth Cream* which I have tried in the past and loved how natural it looked on my skin. My opinions haven't changed and I still think it gives off a super natural and radiant finish on the skin, without looking or feeling greasy. The only thing that put me off in the past and it's something that I also struggled with this time around, is the strong earthy scent. It does disappear once the product is blended out but as you apply it, the scent is initially quite strong just to give you a heads up.
Next up I used the Dusty Girls Natural Mineral Bronzer* for that sun kissed look with a warm finish. The bronzer looks quite warm initially, but I started by slowly building it up on my skin until I was satisfied with the finished bronzed look. My skin already has a bit of colour to it from the recent hot British weather, so this shade is perfect for me right now. I would worry about how it may look on paler skin tones however.
Next I used my favourite product of the bunch, which is the Dusty Girls Eyeshadow in Dark Cocoa*... from the first swatch I was impressed. This shadow might not look like much when you first see it in the pan & the pink, plastic packaging might fool you into believing it's not going to be great quality. But trust me when I say it is one of the best eyeshadows I have tried and I've tried a variety of brands. The texture is super buttery & soft, not to mention that the pigmentation is incredible. It's one of those stand alone shadows that doesn't need anything else and it just looks perfect. As you can see it's the only thing I have on my lids and I'm absolutely smitten with it.
I continued my look with some of my own products from my collection; highlighter, brow gel & mascara. Lastly I used the Dusty Girls Vegan Lipstick in shade Chia Seeds* to continue that nude, bronzed makeup look. This lipstick takes a bit of warming up until the texture glides smoothly over the lips, so I recommend you swipe it on the back of your hand a couple of times before applying to your lips. Once it's warmed up, it gives off a peachy nude finish. The formula is creamy and quite sheer, which I like for a natural daytime kind of look.
I've been more than impressed with Dusty Girls Makeup just from trying out these couple of products. Next I'll be looking forward to trying out some more MooGoo Skincare products. Have you tried these brands before? What are your thoughts on natural beauty products?
