Glowing Summer Skin

I love trying out different kind of foundations from the full coverage kind to the barely there skin tint... but if I could choose a personal favourite it would definitely be a light foundation with a dewy finish. This is where the new Avene Hydrance Skin Tone Perfector Rich* comes in, because it's proving to be the perfect summer base especially for my dry skin. From what I can see online there's also a Light option for normal to combo skin, so I would imagine it would suit most skin types out there (depending on your personal preferences of course). This new product has been inspired by the Insta-generation to give you the confidence to go filter free... which I think is really good marketing especially for today's society. I've incorporated this light base into my simple makeup routine and now I'm ready to share my thoughts with you.

First of all I've kept the whole look pretty basic, with minimal products as I wanted the Avene Hydrance Skin Tone Perfector Rich to be the focus of the overall makeup look. If you're interested about any of the products pictured please don't hesitate to ask me in the comments below.

This only comes in the one shade so the downside is that it will only suit fair to medium skin tones. Now when you first swatch this in the back of you hand, you're probably going to think no way will this work out, as the shade comes out like a dark peachy tone which is very warm. Despite my first impressions I decided to try it out on my face anyway (hoping that I could make it work) and I was pleasantly surprised to see that once I started blending out the product it somehow magically adapted to my skin tone, leaving a light coverage with a super healthy glow behind. It's not just a magic trick of course, it's all down to the combination of coloured & transparent light-reflecting mineral pigments, which create a natural complexion.

Another great feature of this new base from Avene is that it contains smoothing agents to fill in fine lines and blur away imperfections. I found that it created a smooth finish & soft focus to the skin, which instantly made my pores less visible (huge thumbs up from me on that). Since this is focused towards dry skin, I found that I don't even need to use a lot of moisturiser before applying it, as it really does hydrate my skin all day. The best part is of course the fact that it has an SPF of 30 which is amazing protection not just for summer, but all year round.

With a light & radiant base like this option from Avene, results don't last all day unfortunately. This is something I am completely ok with as I never expected it, but it's worth noting if you want your base to be long lasting. I was happy that it didn't create any patchy areas and it just kind of faded thoughout the day evenly (if that makes sense). It's also super effortless because it literally took me less than a few minutes to blend out with my fingertips, so if you're in a rush in the mornings then it could be something to look into.

To finish off the rest of my makeup look I used The Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer which is light reflecting so perfect for my dark circles. I then used my favourite Benefit Hoola bronzer for that sun kissed look and Coralista blush for a gorgeous, healthy flush of colour to the cheeks. Of course I couldn't skip on highlighter, so a light touch of theBalm Mary Lou-Manizer worked perfectly for a day time look. For the eyes I used a combination of Hoola, Dallas & Rockateur from the same Benefit Cheekathon Palette that I used on the face. The result was a soft smokey eye, perfect for a day time summer look. I finished the eyes with a few coats of the Makeup Forever Excessive Lash Mascara for lots of volume and kept the brows in place with Benefit Gimme Brow (completely forgot about this beauty hero when taking the photos but it's a firm favourite in my makeup routine). To finish the look I used NYX Lip Lingerie liquid lipstick in shade Bedtime Flirt, which is definitely my kind of nude shade.

And voila here's the finished look, perfect for this time of year and one that I have been creating pretty much every time I do my makeup. Would love to hear your thoughts on this simple makeup look... What are your go to summer products?
