A Super Natural Spring Makeup Edit

Hello lovelies! Hope everyone had a fun & relaxing four day weekend, not to mention a great Easter filled with lots of family time & chocolate (if you celebrate it that is). So Spring is apparently upon us, but judging by the buckets of rain outside at this very moment, you could definitely have me fooled. Nevertheless I am certainly ready to embrace the warmer weather when and if it ever arrives. Meaning that I'm not only ready to switch up my wardrobe but also my makeup. Now to be honest when it comes to my day to day makeup I tend to keep it quite basic & natural all year round because that's #mommylife for you. But there's a few things I like to switch up, so I thought I would tell you all about them (whether you care to know or not, I'm here to share haha).

One of the main differences between my winter & spring/summer makeup routine is definitely the foundation. In the warmer months I like to opt for a super natural base, in order to let my skin breathe more freely. I rarely opt for mineral options like the Claudia Louch Mineral Loose Powder* above, but I've been stepping out of my comfort zone and haven't been disappointed. What I will do first is blend in concealer under my eyes, t-zone and chin... then I will lightly dust this mineral powder over these areas using a kabuki brush in circular motions. To be honest the centre of my face seems to be the only part that tends to need some sort of coverage, so I leave the rest of my face pretty much bare. I was always under the impression that mineral would feel drying & leave my skin look matte and flat, but that's definitely not the case with this Claudia Louch option. It has a super finely milled texture making it silky soft, so it just glides across the skin effortlessly for a natural finish. I have the shade N5 Pure Beige, which blends in perfectly with my skin tone. What I love most is that it gives my skin the most natural glow, so even though it absorbs excess oil my complexion doesn't look matte. As with all Claudia Louch products it's 94% natural, hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic & free from any fragrances/harsh chemicals. There's not much I don't love about this mineral powder to be honest.

As I mentioned above concealer is my best friend in the warmer months as I usually use it on it's own for minimal effort & natural finished look. Since picking up the Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer a few weeks back, it seems to be all I'm reaching for these days. I love how lightweight it feels and how well it brightens up my under eye area. Plus it just looks gorgeous too, anyone else love having pretty packaging as much as I do?!

For a hint of colour, a touch of bronze to the skin and a highlight all in one, I have been constantly using the new Makeup Revolution Shimmer Brick in Rose Gold. I just love the finished result and it's definitely a great multi tasking product for my effortless everyday kind of makeup looks. The only thing I would say is that you need to build it up gradually, or else you might end up looking like a clown since it is quite pigmented and shimmery too.

The eyes are kept super simple with a wash of colour and recently I have been opting for theBalm Overshadow in You Buy I'll Fly which is a gorgeous warm copper kind of shade (perfect for the warmer months). If used wet this pigment looks super intense, but if used in its dry powder form it's definitely more suited for a daytime look. To make sure this stays in place all day without fading, creasing or smudging, I like to pair it up with theBalm Put A Lid On It Primer. This isn't quite as amazing as my all time favourite UD Primer Potion, but it comes pretty close and still creates a perfect base for any eyeshadow. I reviewed this duo along with a few more theBalm goodies here a little while back if you're interested in reading a bit more about the brand.

To complete the eyes I always use mascara, it's definitely one of my desert island kind of products and the one I have been reaching for recently is the Revlon Ultimate All In One Mascara. I'm not sure what has been happening lately but my lashes are looking pathetic (and no I'm not trying to fish for compliments). I seem to have had a lot of lashes fall out for the past two weeks which is a bit worrying and definitely annoying, but here's hoping they will get back to their regular shape soon. This Revlon mascara has been a lifesaver as it really does it all, like the name would suggest it helps to lift, lengthen and volumise my lashes. Even though I accidentally picked up the wrong shade (you can read all about that in my drugstore haul) I am still loving it, because it's just a great mascara.

I completely forgot to photograph the Benefit Gimme Brow Gel here, but it's definitely the only product I tend to go for when it comes to quick & easy brows. If my brows have been shaped & tinted (which I do on a regular basis considering I work in a beauty salon) then using a more natural product like this gel is all I need.

To finish up the look I've got the most beautiful lipstick of them all and that of course is the Guerlain La Petit Robe Noire Lipstick in shade 041 Sun-Twin-Set* (even the name is fancy don't you think), which is an orange toned red but applies on the lips as a bright coral. This lipstick is definitely one of the most luxurious ones in my collection, as I don't tend to splurge on high end items like these too often. Not to mention that it's also my first experience with Guerlain as a brand so thank you Debenhams for the opportunity to review this little beauty.

With a bit of research I soon realised that this lipstick range was inspired by the brand's iconic fragrance (under the same name) which I am definitely eager to suss out next time I'm out shopping. The lipstick feel super lightweight on the lips and has an almost balm like texture, which is perfect for applying on the go without having to worry too much about being precise. It's described as a cocktail of fine oils & shine boosting pigments, which would definitely explain the super glossy finish. The colour looks intense in its stick form and not something I would usually opt for, but as you can see it's quite sheer when applied on the lips (I have two layers here but the brand advertise them as having build able coverage when you layer up the colour). I have to say I really like how comfortable this feels on my lips, leaving them nourished too. Of course longevity is not long considering the formula, but I don't mind re-applying throughout the day since I don't even need a mirror to do so. The packaging feels luxurious and I'm sure it will be a staple in my spring/summer makeup routine. With 20 shades to choose from I'm sure you'll be able to find a shade that you might like to wear in the warmer months ahead.
