Back again with another fashion post, this time it includes obligatory 'fashion blogger poses' and awkward hands (please bear with me whilst I'm still getting used to this fashion blogging *facepalm*). Before the new year I was contacted by Tokyo Laundry to see if I wanted to try some of their cosy winter knits and of course I said yes, since keeping warm this time of year is my main concern when it comes to fashion. I've never heard of Tokyo Laundry as a brand before, but I was impressed with their professional website straight away, not to mention that delivery was a breeze. The brand describe themselves as "British heritage meets vintage Americana" and it's definitely the first thing that comes to my mind after browsing through their selection of clothing. The focus for the brand is casual with a fashion edge, using super soft fabrics & paying close attention to fine detailing. I was asked to choose two options from their available knitwear range and I have to admit that they have become key pieces in my wardrobe for the past month.
My first option had to be this stunning Amara Leya Lacey White Jumper, which I have actually been wearing now stop. I just love everything about this cosy knit... the pattern, the super soft material & the lace detailing in the shoulders are all perfect. My favourite way to wear this jumper is of course with skinny jeans for a casual day to day look. In my first outfit shots I have paired it up with my new favourite skinny jeans from Next and a comfy pair of Dorothy Perkins Chelsea Boots. However I also wanted to show you that you can dress this jumper up for a more special outfit. To do this I decided to pair it up with a classic black dress from Bershka and River Island wedged ankle boots. In my recent wardrobe clear out I was actually thinking of getting rid of the dress since I rarely wear it, but I love how well it works with this Tokyo Laundry knit so I am definitely holding on to it now. I really like how the jumper works perfectly with both outfit options, showing that it has that versatile factor to it for different fashion styles.
My second option was definitely a step out of my comfort zone as I chose the Cocoon Jumper Dress. I have never own a knitted dress like this before and I have to admit that I'm not the biggest fan of high neck designs, but when I spotted this online it just looked so cosy & snug that I just had to have it. I'm really happy with my choice now and so glad that I opted for something different to my usual style, because I love how this jumper dress fits me and how comfortable it feels overall. The dress is made out of a thick & looser kind of knit, which I really like and one again the material is so soft to the touch. My biggest concern was the cowl neck design because I tend to usually find them a bit uncomfortable, but this one is really loose around the neck area and sits so well without having to constantly arrange it in place. For a super casual look I paired this up with black leggings & ankle boots, which to me is the perfect outfit for a chilled out day.
Overall I've had such a pleasant introduction to the brand Tokyo Laundry and I couldn't be happier with my two clothing pieces. Another amazing thing about the brand is just how affordable they are, so I will definitely be visiting their site for future purchases. The two pieces I have here are currently on sale, so if you like them make sure to check them out. I'd love to hear if you've tried anything from the brand or if you would be intrigued to do so in the future?
