Winter Manicure Routine with Micro Nail

Winter Manicure Routine with Micro Nail

Now to be honest this title may be a little bit misleading because I don't really change up my manicure routine that much between summer & winter. I might switch up the colours and add lots of sparkles in the winter, but the basics remain the same. However I was recently introduced to the Micro Nail gadget recently and I have been loving it, so thought I would share with you my now updated manicure routine. Super exciting stuff I know but for anyone interested in how I perfect my nails or if you're just curious about this handy little gadget... Then please keep on reading :)!

Starting off my manicure routine, firstly I like to trim away any excess cuticles, trust me I have a lot. This is a bit of a controversial topic because I know some people have done this all their lives whilst others wouldn't even think of touching a cuticle scissors. Personally my cuticles get out of control & start looking really gross, so trimming them is the best option for me. Then it's onto cutting the nails if they're a bit too long, as I like to keep mine quite short since they are so thin & would break in an instance. I'll then shape them into quite a natural square shape with curved edges. For all these little steps I have been very lucky to have been introduced to some fantastic Tweezerman* products, which is all I use at the moment. To finish off the mani before I go in with the Micro Nails and/or nail polish, I'll use my favourite Sally Hansen Cuticle Rehab to keep this area well moisturised. Then it's onto buffing the nails with my new little gadget...

The Micro Nail* is designed to buff the nails, basically give them a super polished surface, which you can leave as it is since it's so glossy on its own or you can use as the perfect base for those stunning winter shades. With this innovative & electric nail polisher you can achieve shiny nails like mine in just a few seconds. This was probably the best part for me, just how quick & easy it is to use. There's two different buffing heads, as well as extras included which is great because it means you won't have to worry about buying replacements for a good few months at least. I used the rougher Smooth Roller first, to buff away any ridges & just leave a super tidy base behind. Then to add the really glossy finish I used the Shine Roller for a few seconds on each nail. I love how glossy my nails looked in the finished results and it will definitely be my lazy way out of applying any nail polish when I just don't have the time or don't feel like it.

Lastly if I do go ahead with nail polish, this time of the year I try to stick with dark colours, mostly burgundy tones and I will always add a bit of sparkle even if it's just with an accentuate nail on each hand. This sparkly Nail Sequins* duo from The Body Shop are fab options for adding a festive feel to your nails. Lastly my holy grail product to finish off my nails focuses on the Sally Hansen Insta Dry Top Coat, this stuff it magical. It really does help dry my nails within minutes so then I can go about my day as a busy mommy, without having to worry abut any smudges. Love it and I would recommend it to anyone.

So that's my updated winter manicure routine, including the Micro Nail which is a great little gadget and it's currently on sale for £24.99 if anyone is interested. I'd love to hear how you prep your nails for the festive season...
