Today's post is such an exciting one for me as I have collaborated with Debenhams to introduce you to the latest release from Clarisonic… say hello to the new SMART Profile. Described as a sonic cleansing system (which I'm sure most of us know by now), but with "improved smart technology for total skin transformation". Straight away that description alone had me intrigued and luckily enough I am able to experience this new release from the comforts of my own home. I've been using the Clarisonic SMART Profile* for exactly 10 days now, so I'm not here to tell you that my skin has been transformed or you must go out to buy it, but simply to introduce you to the new features and tell you all about the smart changes that have been made. Don't worry though I am planning on doing a full skincare routine post all about how I've been getting on with the Clarisonic SMART Profile as well as my go to skincare products, including before & after photos too. I just want to make sure I've been using this new sonic cleansing system for at least a month before I share with you my routine & my results. So for now let me tell you a little bit more about this new release, which is already available to buy in Debenhams stores if anyone is interested.
If you've been reading my blog for quite some time now you may be aware that I already own a Clarisonic in the form of Mia 2 which I bought myself over 2 years ago before I was even blogging, so the whole sonic cleansing system is not anything new to my skin & it's definitely something that I have always had a pleasant experience with. In the past few months I have been trying a ton of skincare products and changing up my routine pretty much every month, so I haven't been making constant or regular use of my personal Clarisonic. Since introducing the new SMART Profile into my routine on a daily basis I have already noticed a change in my skin texture & it's definitely made me realise how much I have enjoyed having this kind of sonic cleansing system for my skin in the past.
First impression upon opening the box it's clear to see that the SMART Profile has been re-designed… compared to my older Mia 2 version it looks so much sleeker since it now has a shiny surface & it has somewhat been elongated. Even though it looks much bigger with the new design, it actually feels so much lighter in weight. Then straight away I notice that this new version is also suitable for the body as there is a bigger Turbo Massage Body Brush Head included with a deluxe sample of the Refining Skin Polish. This was probably the most exciting part for me personally, as I haven't been able to experience the Clarisonic cleansing system on my body before so I was immediately intrigued. I have to say that I have now used it on my body 3 times and have loved how effective it is as an exfoliating treatment & just how soft it leave sky skin feeling. I like to use the Turbo setting for my body which instantly puts the the device into the highest setting available.
The only thing to mention is that it takes longer to exfoliate your body this way compared to your regular body scrub, so I do tend to stick to areas such as my arms (generally the upper body), which I personally like to keep in tip top shape all the time. One other use for this new version that isn't included with the set, is that it can be used with the Pedi Kit for the perfect pedicure treatment at home. I haven't really looked into this option and it's probably something I won't even be thinking about until next summer as my feet live in boots for the winter, but it's great to know that the option is there.
The most impressive change in the SMART Profile is that now it includes a Dynamic Facial Brush Head, which now incorporates Smart Microchip Technology to automatically adjust the time & power for a customised cleanse. The first time I used it I noticed that the sonic cleansing system started off in a more gentler setting which is great when you are using something like this on your skin for the first time as doesn't feel too harsh on your skin. Within a few uses I noticed that the settings for the two 20 sec intervals (which are designed for the forehead, nose & chin) got stronger for a deeper cleanse whilst the other two 10 sec intervals (designed for both cheeks) were much slower in speed. This describes my skin pretty well, as I have dry/dehydrated skin but can get quite congested with large pores in my t-zone, so I have to say that I am pretty impressed to see this kind of automatic adjustment from the Clarisonic SMART Profile.
What I loved most about this new Dynamic Facial Brush Head was just how much softer it felt against my skin. With my first Clarisonic experience when I purchased the Mia 2, I ended up having to go out & purchase the Delicate Brush head within days of using it, as I found that the regular brush included was just too harsh on my skin. So I'm really happy that this new brush is soft & somewhat fluffy as you can see from the photos, because it was instantly suitable for my skin. Another feature I like about the new brush head is that it warns you when it needs to be replaced. With regular use (twice a day) as recommended by Clarisonic, the brush head should be changed every 3 months. But I stick to using it in the evenings and I'll skip it once or twice during the week if I'm using a mask instead, so I always struggled trying to remember when I should be changing the head. This new feature is perfect as I'll always be aware of that, which makes sure that I am getting the most effective cleanse & thus the best results.
Of course you can also manage the settings manually (especially if you are using any of the other brushes which aren't designed with an internal micro chip). It has four different speeds to cater for any needs your skin might be going through: Delicate, Universal, Makeup Removal & Professional. If I'm somehow not using the automatic setting for my customised cleanse, I would probably stick to the two lower settings Delicate & Universal, as I find that the other two settings are a lot stronger than what my skin is personally ok with. But it's great to see that the options are available for people with problematic skin who enjoy a deeper cleanse. So far I have been testing out the SMART Profile with the Refreshing Gel sample but I'm not sure I will purchase the full size once I finish it up as I feel like it might just be a bit too drying for my skin. I would imagine it would be a great match for those with normal to combo skin though.
Now what's the catch you ask… well there's one and that is the price tag of £199 (I know it sounds like a lot & well it is a lot). If you already own a Clarisonic it's definitely not necessary to update to this new version… sure it would be a lovely treat and a luxurious splurge to have such a fantastic tool for the perfect pampering treatments at home but it's not a need. However if you don't own a Clarisonic yet you're looking for an all rounder beauty tool that goes beyond its functionality & has a huge array of enhancements available, then you might want to splurge indeed or stick it on your Christmas wish list (word on the street is there's less then 100 days to go now crazy I know).
Personally I have been enjoying the new SMART Profile update and I can see it becoming a complete staple in my beauty routine, whether that may be for my face, body or even feet. I'm super grateful to have the opportunity to try it out so thank you once again Debenhams for making that possible. Until my next skincare update, I'd love to find out if this new Clarisonic version is something you could see yourself buying or maybe you already own one of the previous versions?! I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below…
