I'm forever adding makeup brushes to my collection, I honestly believe you can never have too many because personally I go through clean brushes like nothing else & let's face it there's no better feeling then using freshly clean ones. This time the brushes are from Nanshy, a brand completely new to me but definitely not new to pretty much the entire blogosphere I think. I was lucky enough to meet the brand at the fantastic #BloggersFestival event organised by Scarlett which was such a fun day. I honestly don't know how Scarlett put together such an amazing event for us bloggers with so many note-worthy brands, but she did and she succeed so well at it. Thank you again Scarlett for letting me be part of such a fabulous day, I really enjoyed being part of the experience. Anyway back to today's post all about these gorgeous Nanshy Brushes* which I was kindly gifted at the event. The brushes are considered to be the brand's top 5 brushes and even though I haven't tried anything else from the brand, I can easily see why they would be picked as the best ones.
First of all just look at how stunning they are made… if it's pleasing to the eye, I'm pretty much instantly attracted to it. I like that you have the option of two different handles the original black & the glossy white, as it just gives the brand a bit more variety. If that wasn't enough how about the fact that they are 100% cruelty free certified made using completely synthetic bristles, so your mind can be put at ease knowing that no animal has been hurt in the process of creating these brushes. I love knowing that fact & I think it's great for a brand to cater towards vegans, even if I personally have a few non-synthetic brushes in my collection such as goat hair ones (yes I'm talking about certain MAC brushes).
But the most important question is of course about the quality of these brushes. Are they as good as other competitors on the market? In short yes, I really think they are because they are unbelievably soft. So soft that I find myself brushing them needlessly against my skin like a right weirdo (anyone else do that? No just me?! Alright then). But the best thing about Nanshy brushes is just how affordable they are. I'm actually surprised at the prices considering just how amazing the quality is… It's kinda like having one of those moments 'but wait a minute is there a catch?!'. From what I can tell there certainly isn't, because the brand wanted to create affordable & user friendly brushes with high quality, whilst maintaining low prices and that is exactly what they did. So well done Nanshy & a big thumbs up from me!
The first brush to make it in the top 5 is the Large Angled Contour Brush which retails for £7.95. As the name suggests this is perfect for contouring and bronzing, but I have also loved using it as a foundation brush or even for powder (because I'm a rebel like that don't you know). The fact that it's made with synthetic hair means it is perfect with either cream or powder products, so it really is a great multi-tasking brush and like me you will find yourself using it for a variety of reasons.
Then it's all about my personal favourite of the bunch, the Stippling Brush which retails for £9.95. I was actually quite surprised at how much I love this brush. In general stippling brushes work pretty well with liquid/cream formulas, but I would stick to using them for cream blushes. Recently however I have just been loving applying my foundation with it. Be warned that the result is all about a sheer coverage, so if you love the full coverage effect this might not be for you. I personally love having a very light base that pretty much looks like my skin but better and this is perfect for that.
The last face brush of the bunch is the Buffed Base Round Top Kabuki Brush which retails for £9.95. This is your regular buffing foundation brush which gives a more full coverage result to your skin. Considering I'm all about a sheer base this isn't exactly my favourite as I just don't use it enough. But to make sure I am incorporating it into my routine somehow, I have found it works perfectly well with blush and highlighter to, so that's what I mostly use it for.
The last two brushes are eye brushes, the Angled Detailer Eye & Lip Brush and the Pencil Brush, which retail for £5.95 individually. These are fantastic eye brushes especially when you want to focus on precise detailing. I love using the Angled Detailer for my lower lash line or paired with MAC Fix + to create a winged liner. I am yet to try it out on my lips or eyebrows, but it's great to know that it's also an option. The Pencil Brush is perfect for smudging out eyeliner on the top lash or creating a smokey effect on the lower lash line too. I also love using it for precisely applying eyeshadow in the crease and the very outer V, when I am focusing on a smokey eye look.
As you can see overall I am super impressed with Nanshy and I loved discovering their top 5 brushes. I am already eyeing up a few more of their eye brushes, as you can never have too many and these are quite affordable. I'd also like to try out their own version of the beauty blender makeup sponge to see how it compare sot my beloved original beautyblender. Until then I would love t o hear your thoughts on the brand… Have you tried any of their brushes? Please leave me your recommendations if you have.
