Summer time is my favourite time of the year to wear a pink lip, whether I opt for a bright shade or a glossy finish I've got plenty options to choose from. So today I thought I would share my top favourite pink shades. These are colours that you will see me wearing on a regular basis depending on the rest of my makeup look or my mood. For some reason pink shades are also what I feel most comfortable wearing & what suits my skin tone the best. Ask me to wear orange or red & I'll run a mile (not literally of course I doubt I could do that) but give me a shade a pink & I'll find a way to make it work for me. So with that being said let me show you the 6 different lipstick shades that have rocked my boat this summer...
First up is a bright fuchsia shade If It Eats You Up from the Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro Lipstick range. The finish is semi matte, making it somewhat long lasting (3/4 hours) yet it's still comfortable to wear without drying out the lips. This is the brightest shade of them all, it's one of those in your face kind of pinks & I know it won't be to everyone's taste. In my opinion it's the perfect summer shade for a bright & fun makeup look, plus it looks amazing on sun kissed skin.
The second favourite is more of a berry pink shade India Intrigue from Revlon's Colourstay Moisture Stain. The finish of this lippy is glossy but within a few hours that disappears & you're left with a berry stain behind. The name suggests a hydrating factor & whilst it is comfortable to wear I wouldn't go as far as calling it moisturising. I really like wearing this for an everyday kind of lip shade that requires very little effort thought the day.
The third shade is another bright pink, Pink Pong from the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks range. If you're looking for a long lasting lipstick these liquid versions from Bourjous are what you need in your life. It has amazing longevity, sets to a matte finish yet it doesn't dry out lips in the slightest. I don't have a single complaint about this range & I already have my eye on a few more shades.
The fourth option is another liquid lipstick (yes I have an obsession) from the super affordable MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Laquers range in shade Funk. This is another bright fuchsia shade but it has warmer undertones to it. The texture is smooth & creamy, which then dries to a completely matte finish. Sadly it can dry out your lips & once you eat/drink it has the tendency to crumble off. For the price though it's something I can put up with, not to mention that the pigmentation is fantastic.
The fifth shade is very similar to the second one (I know) but here I have MAC Rebel, which is normally a lot darker & deeper in tone if applied to its full potential. But if you lightly tap the colour to your lips like I have, followed by a glossy lip balm you can turn this dark berry lipstick into a more summer appropriate bright pink shade. So that's why I wanted to include this one, purely to show you that you can also make use of what you already have in your collection before you buy more (but of course sometimes we want too have 10 lipsticks in very similar shades and that's also ok).
The last shade is the lightest & most wearable shade of them all, another Makeup Revolution gem from the I heart Makeup Lip Lava range. The shade I have here Tremor is a pinky nude shade, with a smooth & creamy formula that feels super comfortable and also hydrating on the lips. I love pairing muted pink shades like these with a smokey eye & this particular shade is perfect for that. The longevity of this is not great but considering how moisturising it feels in the lips I don't really mind.
So these are my favourite kind of pink shades when it comes to pulling off a bright & fun summer lip. I personally think wearing a bright lipstick is the easiest way to inject some colour into your everyday makeup look & this time of year is the best season to do so. I'd love to know what are your go to pink lipsticks shades?
