Dark Navy Smokey Eye

Dark Navy Smokey Eye Makeup Tutorial

I rarely go out in the evening, so who knows why I was inspired to create this dark smokey eye which is obviously suited towards a night out. I guess I just enjoy creating these kind of looks even if I don't necessarily get to wear them outside of the house and on top of that I was eager to use my recently purchased KIKO Infinity Eyeshadow in Matte Dark Blue. So after a bit of playing around here is what I came up with. Hope you enjoy this look and maybe get inspired for your next evening out if you do like your dark smokey eye looks….

I started off the look with the eyes as you can imagine there was a good bit of fallout to clean up after it was created and let's face it, ain't no one got time to ruin a flawless base. Firstly I primed my eyes using the Blinc Eyeshadow Primer in Light Tone and then applied MAC Kid all over the lid to set the primer and make sure the matte shades applied after would blend easier. The rest of the steps are pretty much explained in the photo above; the key with this kind of makeup look is to blend, blend and blend some more so there's no harsh edges. That and also patience because trust me the look won't come together until the end and you will look crazy throughout the experience. To add more darkness to the look (as if there wasn't enough) I used Rimmel Scandaleyes in Black to line my waterline. Lastly I used Blinc Black Lash Primer combined with Benefit They're Real Mascara to add loss of volume and length to my lashes (as I  avoid fake lashes wherever possible since I'm so terrible at applying them right).

Once I was satisfied with the eyes I moved onto the base and decided that with such a dark smokey eye, I was definitely going to need a full coverage base. With that in mind I opted for my new RMK Creamy Foundation (review coming soon don't worry) which I applied with my damp BeautyBlender for a flawless finish. I covered my dark circles using the Bobbi Brown Corrector in Peach and the No7 Instant Radiance Under Eye Concealer over that. To set it all into place I used my much loved Breath powder from the Makeup Revolution Radiant Lights Palette. I decided to skip contouring instead opting to bronze and highlight the face with the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar palette. With such a dark smokey eye I felt like a bit of a colour to the cheeks was much needed so I opted for MaxFactor Creme Puff blush in Gorgeous Berries. Lastly it was time to decided on a lip shade and I choose the pinky nude shade from MAC in Creme Cup, which I personally feel like it complements the dark navy perfectly.

And voila that's a dark navy smoky eye for you, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it whether you like this kind of look or if you think I should have done anything differently please leave it all in the comets below. What's your go to smokey eye for an evening night out?
