Evening Routine with The Body Shop Drops Of Youth Range

The Body Shop Drops Of Youth Range

If you're a regular reader of my blog you will be aware of my love for The Body Shop. I think they are such a great affordable brand and you can really find some hidden gems (especially in the amazing sales). The Vitamin E range is by far my favourite but as a beauty junkie I am always eager to try different things and see how my skin gets one. This is when I decided to try out the newest release Drops Of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask and of course when there's a members 30% deal on you pick up a few more things from the same range. I can't remember how much I payed for these all together as I bought them over a month ago but it was definitely a bargain compare to the full price. I used all three products together as my evening skincare routine and coming close to the end, here's how I got on…

First up the Bouncy Sleeping Mask, which is completely different to anything I've tried before, in terms of consistency it resembles a jelly like texture that almost separates when you use the spatula provide to pick it up but then within seconds it's glided back together and looks like you haven't even touched the product at all. Once I pick up a perfect amount I rub it between my hands to warm up the formula and then start massaging it into the skin using the massage method recommended by the experts (or something similar to it anyway). I have to say it feels very tacky upon application and takes about half an hour to sink into the skin, even then it's not fully sunk in so you are going to bed feeling like a tacky mess. This was definitely my least favourite part of the product as I don't think I ever got used to that sensation. I did however love how my skin felt in the morning, smooth and plump. But it lacked some hydration for me personally and I don't think it's something I would purchase again. In fact I'm having a hard time finishing up the last quarter of my pot as I am suffering with quite dehydrated skin at the moment and this is not cutting it.

Next up is the Nutriganics Concentrate from the same range, which I'm sorry Body Shop but it has got the most annoying applicator I have ever used. The plastic clickable pipette literally picks up one tiny droplet at a time and I easily use 3/4 on my face so you can imagine it was definitely a struggle. I used this as a serum before the mask every night for the past month and there is now very little product left in the bottle. This applies really smoothly on the skin but within a minute it has completely dried and my face actually had that tight feeling to it, where I desperately reach for the next product that can be applied. I personally love a hydrating serum where I literally feel like my skin has been given a dose of moisture but this is just not it. I can imagine it might be great for wrinkles and smoothing out the skin, but they are just not worries of mine at the moment. Hydration is my main focus for now so again I won't be re-purchasing this for my dehydrated skin.

Last up the Eye Concentrate which I really like and would give it a 10 out of 10 if it wasn't for the packaging. I love the cooling effect of the rollerball but hate that you have to press it on your hand first for any product to come out. Aside from that I love how cooling this feels on my sensitive eye area and I can't say I have noticed a huge difference on how my under eye area looks so far but at the same time apart from dark circles I don't have any other worries yet. I will continue to use this until I have finished up the product as I am enjoying it, but I'm not sure just if I will re-purchase as I might try something specifically designed for dark circles next.

So as you can see even though Drops of Youth range is specifically designed to target the first signs of ageing and let's face it I'm not getting any younger, it just wasn't the range for me in terms of packaging and how the product felt on my skin. I am more concerned with hydration at the moment so I will be going back to my much loved Vitamin E range. In fact I'm actually waiting for an order of my favourite Vitamin E products as we speak. Sorry Drops of Youth Range our relationship can't continue much longer, it's not you but it's me and my dehydrated skin that need Vitamin E back in our lives.

Have you tried out the Drops of Youth range and what is your verdict on it? I'd love to hear your thoughts…
