Mini Boots Haul

Another day, another haul but I've got so many products lately so there's a few hauls & reviews to be made over the next few weeks. I will try to spread them out a bit and vary the posts though, as I don't wanna bore you with hauls only. But for now I'll show you what I picked up last time I stepped into Boots ( I just can't leave that shop empty handed, I'm so weak).

For my birthday a few weeks ago I decided to treat myself to a few makeup bits from Boots (as if I don't have enough). These are a mixture of products I have wanted to try for a while and products recently out on the market. Here's what I picked up and a few thoughts on each product now that I've had some time to try them out…
Revlon Lip Butter, Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain, Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer, Rimmel London Wonder'full Mascara

I'll start off with the lip products which are both from Revlon (they are a great drugstore brand for lipsticks in my opinion and they were 2 for £10 so I clearly couldn't resist). I know autumn hasn't even begun properly (since September is showing a lot more sun then I had expected), but I'm already buying deep berry shades of lipstick clearly dying to hop on the dark autumn lip trend already. I just love these kind of lip colours for the colder months and I didn't have the confidence to pull it off last year, but this year I'm determined to make more of an effort.
Revlon Colorstay Lip Butter in Plum Sugar

Taking baby steps here I decided to get familiar with this lip trend by starting off with a sheer colour in the form of Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Plum Sugar. This has the berry tone I am craving to it but it is a light version of it. I have been wanting to try out the Revlon Lip butters for the longest time ever and always seem to get overwhelmed by the amount of shades on offer. This time I decided to do some research online, looking at swatches of each shade and fell in love with this particular one. I definitely agree with the hype around this product and enjoy wearing this during the day with a natural makeup look as it adds a touch of colour and keeps my lips moisturised. As you can see from the swatch this has tiny gold particles but once the product is on the lips, the gold isn't obvious at all.
Revlon Colorstay Lip Butter in Plum Sugar
Next up is a relatively new product on the market, which has a mix of reviews out there (some love it, some hate it and some are simply undecided). I have to say that I love the new Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain in India Intrigue and I'm really happy with the shade I picked up. As much as I love the thought of wearing lipstick everyday I usually tend to opt for a balm instead, because I simply hate the idea of having to re-apply the product over and over again throughout the day (let's face it I'm just lazy at touching up my makeup). With nude colours you can get away with not topping up your application as it eventually disappears off your lips, but with dark colours you will notice that as the application fades, it does so unevenly and it just looks like a right mess. This is where the stain comes in for lazy gals like myself (you can basically have a little bit of both worlds). Unlike other lip stains I've tried, this manages to keep my lips moisturised. It's not matte so that's probably why, but I find that my lips are rarely ever in perfect shape for that kind of texture. The glossiness will transfer slightly throughout the day but your still left with an even pop of colour. For me personally it's a winner and I'm so glad I picked it up. I do recommend you try this out in the shop as I've read many disappointing reviews so I think it's more of a personal thing wether you like it or not.

Now onto the other two products which are both from Rimmel (this brand has seriously upped their game in the last year and they always seem to be bringing out great products). First up the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer In Beige. I have been wanting this product for a while now and I honestly don't know why it took me so long to pick it up; probably my guilty conscious telling me I have enough concealers (what I don't have though is one like this). I picked this up in a shade lighter as I wanted to use it to brighten up underneath the eye. I love how light this product feels on the skin and how well it blends into the delicate area. I also like to bring this further down onto my checks (in the shape of a triangle) as it brightens up the face beautifully and makes contouring stand out better. I'm glad to finally have this in my stash and have been using it constantly since I've bought it.

Last up is Rimmel London Wonder'full, which is the brand's latest mascara addition. I have read many reviews on this already (all raving about it of course) and I agree with them all. This mascara is super light and moisturising, I honestly didn't know mascara could feel the way this does on your lashes (this is obviously due to the argan oil). It doesn't weigh them down but still creates a beautiful curl with plenty of volume; I am seriously impressed. The wand is similar to that of my favourite high end mascara Benefit They're Real, except that this retails at a much cheaper price (this was also on offer at the time I bought it for £5.99, absolute bargain). There's no clumping which I love and the way the wand is shaped makes it super easy to apply this quickly & effectively. What I will say is that if your looking for a mascara to give you fullness and millions of lashes (for a night time look), then this won't be it, as I personally think it's more of a daytime mascara, which will create a natural look.

Have you tried any of these products lately? Are you impressed like I am or where you left feeling disappointed?

  12. That Rimmel concealer looks like it will be perfect as an undereye brightener... I would love to use a concealer like that but sadly they do not go light enough for me to get one shade paler than my actual skin tone! Wah :(
