Life Lately…

It's my birthday… and I can cry if I want to (does anyone else get that song stuck in their head when they mention birthday? No? Just me then…). The last thing I want to do on my birthday is cry though and I'm sure everyone else is the same, but I do want to share a few life updates now that I feel more settled into London life. I had a few posts in mind for today but decided to do something a little bit different and reflect back on the last two months of London living, since I am turning 27 and all that.

Here's whats been happening lately:
1. The biggest change of them all is that I got myself a job (a part-time one at that). I know I said I wasn't even going to look for one until Ellie would turn 2 and I didn't even go searching for it. Through a friend I managed to get an interview for a receptionist job at a beauty salon. I know I'm stepping away from the makeup industry at the moment, but for now this suits me & my little family best. The salon is nearby, the hours are flexible and the girls working there are super nice, what's not to love. I can still be part of the beauty world, while I learn about products and different skincare/bodycare treatments.

2. I am going to my first ever bloggers event and I'm so excited even if I am heading over on my own. The event I'm talking about is the Bloggers Love Fashion Week and I'll be there on the first evening which is on the 2nd of September. The event takes place in the Penthouse London, which has amazing views of London from what I've read so far. There's so many brands participating and I'm looking forward to having a good look around. What I'm looking forward to the most though is meeting other fellow bloggers and like minded people who I can have long discussions with about mascara or lipgloss  knowing that they genuinely won't be bored. Are any of you taking part in this event? Let me know in the comments below because I'd love to see you there! Now that I'm writing this I'm realising theres less than 2 weeks left and I haven't even thought about an outfit, but with all the recent shopping I should be able to pull something together.
3. Moving to London finally gave me that kick up the bum to start writing my own blog (something which I have been wanting to do for a long time but haven't had the confidence to do). I am so glad I created this little space of mine and I really feel like I'm part of an online community. Everyone I've chatted to have been super nice, helpful and encouraging. Blogging has given me a new found confidence, as I never thought I'd be sitting here sharing my thoughts, personal experience & my love for all things beauty for everyone to see. I also didn't realise I wouldn't enjoy writing as much as I am, so blogging will definitely be part of my life for as long as I continue to love it.

4. Shopping, shopping and let me see some more shopping happened including my first ASOS order and also Makeup Revolution (which I still haven't received), amongst other bits & pieces. I will do a few blog posts on it all, spread out over the next couple of weeks (as I don't wanna bombard everyone with haul after haul). As much as I love to shop I think it's time for a spending ban, I've got to put a lid on it somehow even if it is a drastic method. I'll just think of the brand new spanking camera I can invest in if I save for the next few weeks/months. So if you catch me talking about shopping or wanting to buy something, please tell me to zip it.
5. Last but not least, is that I'm finally starting to feel settled into London life and getting to feel like the apartment we live in is our home (even if it's not since were technically renting but you know what I mean). I won't lie and say it's dandy 100% of the time, it honestly isn't like that. There's days when I do find it quite tough and stressful, as not having family & friends around can do that to a person. It also doesn't help that Ellie is at her troublesome twos stage (she's not even two haha), so that can definitely test my limits & patience at times. But we also have really good times as a family together and not a day goes by when Ellie or David don't put a smile on my face. Now that we moved here as a family, I'm ready to take on the bad and the good, whilst I look forward to what's in store next.

    1. Thank you Ellie also started her tantrums around that age, she hates not getting her own way :D. Poor you being sleep deprived is truly torturous. Ellie started sleeping through the night sometime at the beginning of the year and I couldn't imagine going back xxx
