July Favourites

July's most loved…

July went by in a flash and now we’ve welcomed August (last month of the summer so we better make it count right…). But before we forget about July I thought I would round up my monthly favourites, basically anything that really stood out for me this month.

I’ll start with the beauty related items and there’s actually not a whole lot. Makeup wise I’ve been loving the three MAC products I picked up at Dublin airport (duty free) on my way to London.

MAC Prolong Wear foundation, MAC MSF Soft & Gentle, MAC Creme Cup Lispstick, The Body Shop Raspberry Body Butter, The Body Shop Raspberry Body Scrub

First up it’s the MAC Prolong Wear Foundation in NC20, which is what I opt for when I want my makeup to last all day (trust me it doesn’t disappoint). This is the only foundation that has actually stayed on my face until I decide to take it off. Usually most of my other foundations (high-end and drugstore included) melt off my face within 6 hours or so, especially in this heat. The one minor glitch for me is the formula, as it’s quite thick but I’ve learned that the best way to apply it is with my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge.

Next product is the MAC MSF Soft & Gentle, which I use as a highlighter (sometimes I double it up as an eye shadow). This is just amazing and if applied correctly it highlights the face beautifully.

Last MAC product is a Cremsheen Lipstick in Crème Cup. This is actually my first MAC lipstick (I know shock horror for not buying one years ago), but to be honest I’m just not a lipstick/lipgloss kind of gal. I love the way a lipstick can transform your look but I hate having to re-apply during the day. However I’m trying to make more of a conscious effort to keep on top of it and I though maybe owning a MAC lipstick will help.

The last of the beauty products are two delicious smelling body products from The Body Shop New Raspberry Range. Yup you’ve guessed it, the body scrub and body butter, which I raved about a few weeks back. I have just been loving using these the past month and I won’t go into much more detail as you can read my full review here if you haven’t already.

Now onto a few miscellaneous products I’ve been using this month: first up would have to be my new blender, Breville Blend Active Original. I’ve seen this popping up on a few of my favourite blogs but I wasn’t keen on ordering it online. To my surprise I actually came across it in Sainsbury’s for a third of its usual price so I had to snap it up immediately. Since bringing it home I’ve been using it almost everyday. I love how quick and simple it is to whip up a smoothie. It also helps that the cleaning process is super easy, which is amazing.

Next up is one of my new cooking books Jamie’s 30-minute Meals, which I actually picked up on my first visit to Jamie’s Restaurant. I love the recipes in this book and the photography used. Anna from the SacconeJolys uses this book often and I was always intrigued (now I see why). Having a quick look at this book will get you salivating, regardless of whether you were even hungry to begin with. Recipes are so easy to follow and like the book says they are super quick (although it probably takes me a bit longer than 30 minute with a toddler around but that’s just me).

Jamie's 30 Minute Meals, Breville Blend Active

Last but not least is an activity, which is spending quality time with my little one Ellie. It’s been amazing to have the privilege to stay at home with her and watch her grow day after day (even if she does throw a mighty tantrum every now & again).  Having this amazing weather also meant we could go out in the sun and enjoy our surroundings pretty much everyday. I know that in a few months time I’ll have to start working part-time, so for now it’s nice to enjoy spending this time with her whilst we settle into London life.

So that’s all for me this month. It wasn’t a whole lot but I blame the big move to London for that… Have you got any July favourites you want to share? x

    1. Thanks :D! I have to admit, although many brands such as Rimmel & Revlon offer a great selection of lipsticks, there's just something about a MAC lipstick and now I'm addicted x

    1. It has got to be my favourite out of The Body Shop ranges so far :D! I know I'm already planning my next few purchases (bummed I missed out on national lipstick day)! I have made that recipe once and it's to die for! Mad Men looks good but I haven't given it a chance yet! Oh I forgot to mention I started watching American Horror Story lately, it's so scary yet addictive (I'm on season 2 already) x
