Bronzed Goddess Alert

The Body Shop Glowing Honey Bronze Summer Collection

Today I’m back with some lovely products from The Body Shop once again. I knew I wouldn’t be able to stay away from the brand once I got a taste. This time I decided to try a few makeup bits, regardless of how tempted I was by all the lovely scented body products. When I saw the ‘Glowing Honey Bronze Summer Collection’ on offer for £20 I knew I had to get my hands on it (unfortunately I can't seem to find this deal on their website so I can't attach a link but it's definitely still on offer in the shops). I have read numerous reviews about The Body Shop Bronze Collection so I was excited to get the chance to try the much raved about products and see what all the hype was about.

The first product I'd like to review is the Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder (mine is in shade 03) which is the reason I bought this collection in the first place and also my favourite out of the bunch. I have to agree with all the hype surrounding this bronzer as I fell in love with it instantly. First of all the packaging is just beautiful, so simplistic. It has a handy mirror within and it is lightweight so definitely one for the makeup bag on the go. It’s not as dark as any of the bronzers I already own, which is what I love about it the most as it looks effortlessly natural and gives your skin a healthy warm glow. Sometimes dark bronzers can come off looking orange or muddy if applied heavily but it would be very difficult to get such effect with this as its quite light & subtle. The bronzer is matte with a buttery soft texture since it is honey-enriched so it feels lovely on and doesn’t cling to any dry patches I might have. I can't fault this product and will continue using it in my mix of bronzers (since I have quite a few I always like to change it up and use something different each time I do my makeup).

Next up is the Honey Bronze Shimmering Dry Oil (this is in shade 02 Golden Honey) which I was very eager to try as I never used anything like it. It does look quite scary in the bottle but don’t worry it is totally different when blended into the skin. Although this is a body oil it is definitely not greasy and very lightweight. So if your body is in need of a moisture fix this is not the product you want to use, as I didn’t find it to be as moisturising as a body lotion would be. This is however more of an appearance-enhancing product since it adds a tint of gold shimmer and intensifies your tan. Although I enjoyed using this product it is not a must have for me. It is a definitely a summer product which I will use when I want to show off my tan or elongate my legs when wearing dresses. It is a perfect product to bring on holidays when you want to make your body look flawless. During the cold winter months this will get no loving from me I’m afraid as I’m usually covered up anyway, but I will enjoy using it over the next few summers to come as it will last me a LONG time (the bottle is huge and only a small amount is needed).

The Body Shop Honey Bronze Shimmering Dry Oil

Last product in the box is the Honey Bronze Shimmering Lip Balm. This is my least favourite out of the three as I don’t find it to be as moisturising as it claims to be. Maybe it’s my lips, which are always prone to dryness, but after a few hours of wear-time it just looked unflattering. Another thing to point out is that you literally need to use the smallest amount as it can give your lips a white mask if you over apply. One thing good about this product is that it's not sticky and has a sweet scent which I like. The only way I've managed to use this without looking washed out is with a lip balm on top and I still wasn't overly impressed with the finished look. So I'm afraid that this product just isn't for me.

The Body Shop Honey Bronze Shimmering Lip Balm

Overall I was happy enough to have been able to try these products at a special offer. However the only product I would have been happy to pay full price for would be the bronzing powder which is now one of my staples. It was nice to try the dry oil which I was quite surprised about and will enjoy using it occasionally now that I have it (it just didn't knock my socks off as they say). The only product I won't continue to use is the lip balm which is disappointing, but 2 out of 3 is not all that bad. Another thing to point about all these products is that they have quite a sweet honey scent which I personally loved, but I know it's not everyone's cup of tea. Hope you get some inspiration for that 'bronzed goddess look' we all want to achieve this summer, especially with the heat we are currently experiencing. So even though I'm personally not 100% impressed with all three products, do have a look for yourself and try them out in the shop to see if any of them suit you.

  3. This set looks awesome and is full of interesting products. The dry oil definitely reminds me of the NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Usage Dry Oil Shimmer and perhaps it's a dupe! For the price, this set is a huge bargain. I've also found some good deals in-store before that aren't online so I think it's worth having a nose around in Body Shop every now and then! :)

    1. That was exactly my thought when I saw this collection! I've seen photos of the NUXE version in other blog posts before but never tried it for myself and don't think I would for that price. I would definitely recommend you pop into the shop as they always seem to have some sort of a deal going on… x
